Homework

Homework is an essential part of the learning process and pupils who fail to complete homework regularly will not achieve their potential. A variety of tasks will be set, but they will all be carefully linked to subject curricula and will develop pupils’ ability to study independently. Pupils will receive feedback on their homework during lessons.

Pupils will access their homework tasks through the School Synergy app.

Each task should take approximately 20 minutes to complete in years 7 to 10, and 40 minutes in year 11. In the two weeks before any set of internal exams, the homework tasks will be to revise. No homework will be set during exam weeks. Pupils need to be given every encouragement to complete their homework in a quiet place where they are not disturbed and away from the distractions of modern life i.e. mobile phones, social media etc. If there are occasions when this proves difficult pupils can use our Aquinas Centre (the LRC).

Homework timetable

Year 7

• From week 4 (22nd September)
  • English, Maths, RE and Science will set one task per week.
• From week 9 (3rd November)
  • English, Maths, RE, Science, Geography, History and MFL will set one task per week.
• From week 16 (5th January)
  • English, Maths, RE, Science, Geography, History and MFL will set one task per week.
  • Computing, Art and Music will set tasks in week A.
  • Drama and Technology subjects will set tasks in week B.

Year 8

• English, Maths, RE, Science, Geography, History and MFL will set one task per week.
• Drama and Technology subjects will set tasks in week A.
• Computing, Art and Music will set tasks in week B.

Year 9

• English, Maths and Science will set two tasks per week.
• RE will set one task per week on the following days

• Geography, MFL, Drama and Music will set tasks in week A.
• History, Computing and Art will set tasks in week B.

Year 10

Year 11

Starting in January, the year 11 homework timetable will be replaced with a programme of personalised revision tasks.
