Our Ethos and Values

MISSION

“Living to make Christ known”

We are a community living to make Christ known ~

by all we say and in all we do. This calling shapes every aspect of our school life:

  • our pursuit of academic excellence;
  • our strong inclusive provision;
  • the high standards of behaviour we uphold;
  • our unwavering focus on delivering a rich, and varied curriculum.

We strive to reflect Christ’s love and truth in how we learn, teach, and grow together.

Our commitment to this Mission is embodied in the values of
GRACE, which guide us in making Christ known.
Inspired by Cardinal William Allen, and symbolised by the
rabbits in his coat of arms, these values help us nurture an
environment in which Christ is truly at the centre.

VALUES

Growth
We grow in knowledge, faith, and character, becoming
more like Christ each day.

Resilience
We face difficulties with hope, relying on God’s strength to
grow in resilience and determination.

Aspiration
We aim high, encouraging all to pursue their unique, God given potential with confidence.

Community
We live as the Body of Christ, strengthening both school
and the wider community through our charity and service.

Example
We seek to live as Christ lived, leading by example in our
words and our actions.

“WITHOUT GRACE, WE CAN DO NOTHING”

St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Our students are bright, cheerful, highly motivated and show outstanding attitudes to learning.

Cardinal Allen is a progressive, exciting and happy school in which our students achieve outstanding levels of personal development. The students and staff recognise the importance of the school’s Catholic and Christian education mission and are committed to it in every way. We are all proud to belong to a school offering rich challenge and extended opportunities to learn within a caring atmosphere of support for our students. We are in partnership with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lancaster and Lancashire Local Education Authority (LEA). The Christian ethos of the school is reflected in its mission to support the needy and underprivileged.

The school is widely acknowledged as providing outstanding levels of pastoral care which are based on a secure knowledge of the unique talents of individual students. We rely on and receive excellent levels of support from our parents in our drive to help our students develop into rounded, caring and active citizens. Our core values are Christ-centred and reflect the traditional standards respected within our communities. In particular, we endeavour to produce young people who show respect for themselves and each other; tolerance, courtesy and a high regard for those less fortunate than themselves. Because of this, our students are bright, cheerful, highly motivated and show outstanding attitudes to learning.
