Ofsted Reports

Our school was inspected in April 2026 under the new and very different Inspection Framework. There is no longer an overall school judgement, and the labels allocated to various aspects of school life have also changed, and so it is impossible really to compare one inspection with the previous.

The full report is available via the link below, and there is also an Ofsted video which you may wish to look at which explains the new system and the thinking behind it.

We are really pleased with many aspects of the report and, as the inspection team told us at the time, we have lots to celebrate, but, as always, there is also work to be done:

  • Pupils at Cardinal Allen Catholic High School thrive in a culture of warm relationships rooted in Catholic values.
  • The school has a calm, purposeful environment that has improved over time.
  • The school’s ambition for all pupils to be equally included in all aspects of school life is championed by all staff.
  • Leaders have overseen an improvement in behaviour over time. With clear, well-embedded routines, pupils enjoy a safe, calm culture of learning built on positive relationships with their peers and teachers.
  • The curriculum is well structured and sequenced. It is complemented with staff who have secure subject knowledge.
  • Staff are overwhelmingly positive about the leadership and feel well supported.
  • Pupils are positive about the school’s broad range of extra-curricular activities.
  • Leaders at all levels have pupils at the heart of their approach to leading this school.
  • Pupils treat others with care and respect creating a safe, enjoyable space for learning.
