Charity Fundraising

Pupils at Cardinal Allen Catholic High School have shown their commitment to community service by raising money for local charities. Through various fundraising activities, including sponsored events, charity drives, and school-wide campaigns, pupils have united to support causes that make a positive impact in their local area. The efforts have not only helped raise significant funds but have also instilled in the pupils the values of compassion, teamwork, and social responsibility. By actively engaging with the community, Cardinal Allen pupils are making a difference and setting an example of generosity and care for others.

When pupils join us in Year 7, they all vote for a charity that they would like to raise funds for, they then support this charity for the full 5 years that they are with us.

In each year group, we have four Charity Representatives who play a key role in supporting our school’s charitable work. These pupils take the lead in organising fundraising eventspromoting activities, and writing updates for the school newsletter to share the impact of our collective efforts.

Becoming a Charity Representative gives pupils the opportunity to develop important leadership and communication skills. They learn how to work as part of a team, motivate others, and take responsibility for planning and decision-making. This role also helps them to grow in confidence, empathy, and initiative, as they represent their peers and support causes that make a real difference to others.

As a Catholic school, this role reflects our mission of “Living to make Christ known.” Our Charity Representatives lead by example, showing how faith can be lived out through service, compassion, and community action. Their dedication and enthusiasm help to inspire the whole school to care for others and live out the values of GRACE in everyday life.

Here are the current charities our year groups are supporting:

Year 7 – Youth SVP – https://svp.org.uk/youth-svp

Our Year 7 pupils are supporting the Youth SVP, part of the St Vincent de Paul Society—a Catholic charity that encourages young people to make a positive difference in their communities through acts of kindness, friendship, and service. The organisation supports those who are lonely, vulnerable, or in need, helping to build a fairer and more compassionate society.

Supporting Youth SVP reflects our mission as a Catholic school, where faith is expressed through action. It allows our pupils to live out our school mission, “Living to make Christ known,” by following Jesus’ example of love, service, and compassion for others.

Through fundraising and community projects, Year 7 pupils are learning about the importance of empathy, justice, and responsibility, while putting their faith into practice. This experience helps them to grow as caring, faith-filled individuals who bring Christ’s love into the lives of others through their words and actions.

Year 8 – Blue Skies – https://blueskiescharity.co.uk/

Our Year 8 pupils support Blue Skies, the official charity of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Blue Skies works to enhance patient care by funding projects, equipment, and experiences that go beyond what the NHS can normally provide. From improving hospital environments to supporting staff wellbeing and funding vital research, the charity helps make a real difference to patients and families across the Fylde Coast.

Supporting a charity like Blue Skies is an important way for our pupils to learn about empathy, community, and social responsibility. Through fundraising and awareness activities, they will gain a deeper understanding of how small acts of kindness can have a big impact on others. By working together for a good cause, Year 8 pupils will develop teamwork, communication, and leadership skills—while helping to bring comfort and positivity to those in hospital care.

Year 9 – Kindness Counts UK – https://www.kindnesscountsuk.org.uk/

Our Year 9 pupils are proudly supporting Kindness Counts UK, a charity dedicated to promoting kindness, compassion, and positive mental health in communities across the country. The charity works with schools and local groups to encourage acts of kindness, raise awareness about wellbeing, and support those who may be struggling with loneliness or emotional challenges.

Supporting Kindness Counts UK is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to understand the power of kindness and empathy. By taking part in fundraising and awareness activities, they will learn how their actions—no matter how small—can make a real difference to others. This experience helps our pupils develop important values such as respect, understanding, and responsibility, which are at the heart of our school community.

Year 10 – Cancer Research UK – https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/

Our Year 10 pupils are supporting Cancer Research UK, a leading charity dedicated to preventing, diagnosing, and treating cancer through pioneering research. The charity funds thousands of scientists, doctors, and nurses who work tirelessly to find new ways to beat cancer and support those affected by the disease.

Supporting Cancer Research UK gives our pupils an important opportunity to learn about the power of science, perseverance, and community action. Through fundraising and awareness projects, they will gain a deeper understanding of how research saves lives and how collective effort can bring about real change.

By taking part, Year 10 pupils are not only helping to fund life-changing research but also developing key life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and compassion.

Year 11 – Brian House – https://www.brianhouse.org.uk/

Our Year 11 pupils are supporting Brian House Children’s Hospice, a local charity in Blackpool that provides specialist care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Brian House offers comfort, respite, and compassionate end-of-life care in a warm, supportive environment, ensuring every child can make the most of every precious moment.

Supporting Brian House allows our pupils to learn about the importance of empathy, community, and compassion. Through fundraising and awareness events, they are helping to make a real difference to the lives of local children and families who rely on the hospice’s care. This experience also encourages our Year 11 pupils to reflect on gratitude, responsibility, and the impact of giving back to their community as they prepare for the next stage of their lives.

Throughout the year additional monies raised also go to a mixture of other charities such as the RNLI, the local food bank and many more.
