School Visits
We believe that educational visits play an important part in the overall development of a pupil. They typically allow pupils the opportunity to participate in, and benefit from, a range of activities and experiences that serve to extend and consolidate their learning. Visits contribute to making learning enjoyable and sometimes enable pupils to visit places they might not otherwise see and undertake activities in which they might not otherwise participate.
We organise many educational visits each year. These range from short visits during school time into the local community, to overseas residential visits of up a week in length. All visits are subject to the LCC Educational Visits Policy and Guidelines. We have a dedicated Educational Visits Coordinator who oversees the arrangements of the visits. Health and Safety is paramount on every visit.
As an example, over the last year there have been visits to the diocesan youth retreat centre at Castlerigg Manor in Keswick, Paris (MFL), Berlin (History) and a number of Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. Closer to home, there have been visits to shows and performances in Blackpool, a ‘day out’ at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and opportunities for our pupils to sample Further Education at St Mary’s Sixth Form and Blackpool 6th Form.
